Bob Wright: Banker and Rodeo Roper

For any of us who have been around the community for a while, STAR Financial Bank has been an integral part of the business of Madison County. From Upland Bank to First National Bank to STAR Financial, Bob Wright has seen it all.

Between 2013 and 2016, over 240 automotive brands are being redesigned or reintroduced using advanced materials and technology making this new generation of vehicles both lighter and safer. Most newsworthy has been the radically redesigned 2015 Ford F150, built with innovative, high-strength, military grade aluminum alloy. Hand in hand with the new vehicle designs comes the challenge for you, the consumer to identify which collision repairers have the technical capability to properly and safely repair your second most valuable investment; your vehicle. The decision not to investigate can have life-threatening consequences.

ANDERSON- The 8th Annual United Way/Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic, presented by Hoosier Park Racing Casino, raised over $39,000 last Friday at Edgewood Golf Course. Players from 43 businesses/organizations made up 40 teams along with over 84 sponsors and over 40 volunteers to help make the day a success. Proceeds from the Golf Classic support various important local efforts by United Way and the Madison County Chamber in education and the financial stability of individuals and businesses in our community.

A spiritual hero of mine once related that, when working for a railroad, he received a call from his counterpart in New Jersey complaining that a passenger train arrived there without the baggage car.

The passengers were furious. An investigation found that a careless switchman in St. Louis had moved a piece of steel just three inches the wrong way. That simple 3-inch mistake caused the luggage to end up 1,300 miles away in Louisiana.

ANDERSON – Despite the day's slight drizzle, NTN Driveshaft officially broke ground on its new Anderson manufacturing plant that will ultimately create up to 510 new jobs.

The Japanese company, with plants already in operation in Columbus and Frankfort, came to Anderson on Tuesday by making a $10,000 donation to the United Way of Madison County.

The Brian Miller Interview

By Dirk Webb

In 1946, Harry West started his own electrical contracting company. Brian joined the company in 1979, his brother, Ron joined in 1982, and together they bought West Electric from their grandfather in 1984.

In the 1950’s and 60’s West Electric was instrumental in wiring the new sub division homes springing up around Anderson, booming commercial retail outlets, and several schools. Among their projects were the rewiring of the Anderson Banking Company building (now PNC), the Beverly Terrace building, Hoyt wright, and the Ward Stillson Company.

Cheerful attitude after 75 years in business

By Dirk Webb

If your child or grandchild gave you a Christmas gift this season that was purchased through their school’s “Holiday Fair,” “Gingerbread House” or 1,000 other type venues across the country, chances are the product was distributed through David Kleinhenn’s namesake establishment.

By Jonathan Miles Hammock, MCC Marketing Intern and Anderson High School 2016 Graduate

Growing up as a young black male in Anderson; I always thought of home as a place I wasn’t going to be for long. I could always tell that there was a problem here in the county. Every year there was something we had (or didn’t have) that made people want to leave and not think twice about coming back. I had the same mindset my senior year at Anderson High School. This past summer, interning here at home and taking classes out of state opened my eyes and changed my perspective on home.
